Learning objectives:

• Recognize and differentiate between chronic, persistent pain states
• Review current treatment modalities for these pain categories; review thresholds for treatment; and define safe, efficacious therapies
• Discuss evolving therapies, especially nonopioid adjuvant analgesics, for the treatment of chronic pain states
